2017 OSCAR-NOMINATED SHORT FILMS
Once again, SPACE is hosting the 2017 Oscar-Nominated Short Films, for Animation and Live Action. Each program will screen for an evening and an afternoon screening. These are popular events and tend to sell out so advanced ticket purchase is encouraged.

SPACE Gallery and the Maine College of Art Illustration Department have teamed up to curate a small series of films about cartoonists and illustrators.
Wiggles and Watch
Calling young movers and movie watchers! Wiggles and Watch is a short vacation week series for families to shake it out, then get cozy for a film. We’ll start with an hour workshop for all ages with juggling artist Janoah Bailin, followed by a screening of the animated film Coco.

2015 OSCAR NOMINATED SHORT FILMS
SPACE Gallery and Shorts International present the 2015 Oscar-Nominated Short Films.
The Animated Program runs on Thursday, January 29th at 7:30pm and Friday, January 30th at 7:30pm.
The Live Action Program runs On Saturday, January 31st at 4:00pm and 7:30pm.
Nominations are announced on Jan. 16th. The Academy Awards ceremony is on Sunday, Feb. 22nd.
Trail Off
Trail Off is an experimental living-room series that focuses on mysticism and nature in a cozy and intimate environment. It's being curated by Greg Jamie (The Oak and the Ax), and conceptualized and designed by Kelly Rioux (New Fruit) and Gil Corral (Hog Farm Studios).
It opens January 22nd in the SPACE annex at 534 Congress St.
Think & Drink
This year is the 150th anniversary of the 14th Amendment, one of the “Reconstruction Amendments” that helped to reshape the United States’ political terrain. The 14th Amendment, in case focuses on citizenship, due process, and equal protection. And so in 2016, we will take the idea of “citizens” and “citizenship” and dive deeply using activism, art, gender, sex, and more as our lenses.
