Event booking

Please include a statement of intent describing the nature of the event, a list of preferred dates and times, anticipated requirements (seating, PA, stage, bar, AV projection, staffing, etc...). We like having a lead time of THREE MONTHS to allow us to properly consider and promote the event. Links are especially helpful to us in evaluating your proposal.

Usually we're paying for the direct costs of our events, including artist fees, from the ticket income from the event. Sometimes we have grant funds to apply to our programming, and sometimes we're able to fundraise specifically for events through grants, sponsorships, or buried treasure. Just kidding, we don't know where to find buried treasure.

It's easiest for us to program artists that have some kind of presence online - it helps us (and the audience) understand what the heck might be going on at that event so we can all get excited about the experience in advance.

Music events: please include links to audio samples for each group/performer.
Send music inquiries to our Interim Music Programmer: Nat Baldwin: music@space538.org

Theater and other performance or hard-to-categorize proposals should include a synopsis/script of the performance, with links to video samples when available. Links to bios, reviews, etc. are especially helpful to us in evaluating your proposal.
Send performance/theater/uncategorizable inquiries to Kelsey Halliday Johnson: kelsey@space538.org

Dance and related kinds of performance: audio/video samples of the proposed work are best, or links to relevent past work, as well as bios for the choreographer and performers. Please be as clear as possible about your tech preferences and your tech needs. We don't have a great floor for dance, so we're more suited to some things than others.
Send dance inquiries to Kelsey Halliday Johnson: kelsey@space538.org

Film: We have a vibrant film screenings program which largely includes documentary film, shorts programs, and independent feature films. Please direct film/video screening inquiries to info@space538.org, and include a link to a trailer or to the full material when available.

SPACE is run by a small staff and lots of volunteer hours. While we strive to do all we can to promote our calendar of events, you can help us generate attendance by participating in the promotions process. We appreciate collaborators providing with flyers and posters for events!

SPACE is a nonprofit organization that supports contemporary arts projects, champions artists, and encourages an open exchange of ideas.
