This Saturday (24th) SPACE, along with Maine Roller Derby will present Derby Baby. A documentary about the exponentially growing woman's sport. Derby has been weaving it's way into popular culture over the last few years so quickly that it has become the world's fastest growing sport.
Narrated by Juliette Lewis, Derby Baby examines the many incarnations of the sport throughout it's 77 year history, and the tension between the sport's pervious entertainment leanings (think the WWF) and it's current trajectory towards that of a more traditional sport, with a central governing body and more main stream commercialization that self sustaining sport requires.
